A woman should first be seen as a human being: Mehazabien
Be it tele-fictions, web-series, or web-films, renowned actress Mehazabien Chowdhury has made her place in the hearts of fans through her excellence on the silver screen. Recently, the actress once again charmed the audience with a magnificent performance in Vicky Zahed's web-series, "The Silence".
On the occasion of International Women's Day, the star had a casual chat with The Daily Star.
"A woman should first be seen as a human being," said the actress. "When seen you see us as humans, before seeing us females, the gender bias will automatically come down. We are celebrating a day in honour of the women—filled with countless discussions, seminars, and functions for the women. But then what? As soon as the day is over, everyone forgets the values and discussions of feminism made today."
Mehazabien stressed on the fact that such problems cannot be solved in one day.
"It's up to us to show our family members how to respect a woman," continued "The Silence" star. "When teaching our younger brothers, sisters, cousins, and other relatives or friends, why show them male and female, instead of showing them that we are all just humans?"
"As humans, men and women are equal," shared Mehazabien. "We should all know that in our hearts. Then, why do we need a special day, hundreds of campaigns, and so on, to make everyone aware of this simple notion?"
The actress had a firm message for everyone, stating, "It's 2023 and I think these matters should've been in our hearts by now. Rather it's depressing that we have to remind everyone about this simple notion on this special day. It's high time we change our mindset, a woman is not only a mother, or a sister—she is a human first."
