Shyam Benegal’s daughter says reports on his health ‘incorrect’
Yesterday, the news of Shyam Benegal's health deteriorating spread like wildfire, when many Indian news portals cited that the actor's kidney had failed and that he was undergoing dialysis. However, his daughter, Pia has refuted all such rumours about his health.
"All of the information and material on the internet is incorrect," she said. When asked about the director's health, Pia quipped, "It is none of your business, right? He'll be fine in a couple of days."
Pia stated that her father is fine, however, when asked whether he is in touch with the doctor, she said, "There's nothing that I can tell you right now. He'll be back in the office shortly. Yeah, he's fine, or as fine as he can be. He simply requires rest. Don't you think it's time for him to retire at the age of 88?"
She concluded by saying, "You will learn more updates soon."
Shyam Benegal has received numerous National Award nominations for his work in films such as "Bhumika: The Role (1977)", "Junoon" (1978), "Arohan" (1982), "Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero" (2004), "Manthan" (1976), and "Well Done Abba" (2010).
