I don't know about Shakib's Dubai visit: Papon
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan Papon today said he was not aware of premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan's controversial visit to Dubai where he opened a jewellery shop in UAE.
"I don't know. I do not know where he [Shakib] went," Nazmul Hassan told The Daily Star.
Cricket superstar Shakib Al Hasan went to Dubai along with some other celebrities for the inauguration of Arav Jewellers, owned by Arav Khan, yesterday.
Rabiul Islam, alias Arav Khan, of Gopalganj's Kotalipara upazila, is a fugitive accused in the murder of a police official.
Mamun Emran Khan, the then inspector of special branch, was killed inside a flat in the capital's Banani on July 7, 2018.
Asked why Shakib went to Dubai, the BCB president said, "Why did he go there? I don't know."
Nazmul Hassan, however, said that a few days ago he came to know that Shakib would go abroad to inaugurate a gold shop. "But I was not aware where he will go."
The BCB boss said he isn't sure whether other board members are aware of Shakib's visit. "I just came to know about Shakib's visit to Dubai a few minutes back."
He said he needs to know more details of the visit to make further comments on this matter.
Shakib flew to Dubai a few hours after leading the Tigers to a 3-0 T-20 whitewash against World Champions England at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.
