Spotify removes hundreds of Bollywood songs from the platform

Numerous Bollywood songs have been taken off Spotify due to alleged disagreements with copyright holders.

After the previous one expired, the audio streaming and media service reportedly was unable to come to an agreement with the owners of a number of Bollywood songs.

Many well-known songs, including "Malhari" from Bajirao Mastani and "Kala Chashma" from Baar Baar Dekho, have reportedly been taken down from the platform, according to BBC.

In order to encourage users to scroll through the app, Spotify added a new feed earlier this month as part of its biggest redesign to date. This feed takes inspiration from TikTok and YouTube.

The changes coincide with Spotify's growing shift away from the traditional song and album collections it began with and towards new categories of content like podcasts.
