Dead chickens supplied to Dhaka restaurants!
State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder today said 5,000-7,000 chickens die every day while being transported to Dhaka from all over the country, and they are supplied to restaurants in Dhaka.
He made the remark while speaking at a press conference on the ministry's initiatives for the Holy Ramadan to prevent adulteration in essential commodities.
"Where do the dead chickens go? You will see them being sold in different restaurants. They [the businesses] have to be dealt with an iron fist."
Recently, the allegation of Sultan's Dine using meat of other animals other than mutton in kachchi went viral on social media. However, the Department of Consumer Rights Protection has not found any truth in it.
When asked about the source of his information mentioning the Sultan's Dine incident, the state minister said, "I have heard this from a hotel owner."
On the issue of price hikes, he said a syndicate of traders in our country are increasing the prices of essentials.
"Although traders insist that it is due to the increased rate of the dollar, I don't think the price of everything is going up due to the dollar rate. Everyone is increasing the price of goods three to four times," he said.
"If we can't break this syndicate, if we can't eradicate them, they will continue to do this."
He thinks if two or four unscrupulous traders can be punished, things may improve.
