‘Mobile phone users should always get back unused data’
A mobile phone users' body has urged the telecom operators to carry forward the unused data and talk time and ban sales of mobile connections with bundle packages.
The members of Bangladesh Mobile Phone Consumers' Association came up with the demands at a human chain in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka on March 23.
Mohiuddin Ahmed, president of the association, claimed that the customers are unable to benefit from the telecom regulator's last year's directive on carry forward of mobile data.
As per the existing rules, unused mobile data and calls bought for 3-day, 7-day, 15-day, and 30-day periods will add up to the next package purchased by a subscriber.
However, the unused data will be carried forward if customers purchase the same package before the expiration of the existing one.
It is very difficult for the customers to keep in mind the existing package's expiration date and purchase a new package in time just to get the unused data added to the new one, Ahmed said.
The mobile phone users should get back the unused data of any package purchased at any time whenever he starts using a new data package, he said.
