Persona promotes ‘white supremacy’ in viral blunder
Persona, one of the country's premiere beauty parlours, is now viral on the internet, for all the wrong reasons.
In a brand-new photoshoot which features Ridy Sheikh in a stunning white saree and outlook, they captioned a photo with "Be the symbol of white supremacy with Persona!".
It is being assumed that whoever the copyrighter of that post is, was unaware that white supremacy is actually the the belief that white people constitute a superior race and should therefore dominate society, typically to the exclusion or detriment of other racial and ethnic groups.
Needless to say, after a backlash on the internet, the page quickly took down the post, but not before many took screenshots of the blunder.
"The picture was actually from a shoot for Canvas magazine," said Ridy Sheikh to The Daily Star. "It is totally unacceptable and I am glad they took it down. However, the damage has been done."
The fiasco is, perhaps, a lesson to all brands and companies to be careful while making and greenlighting content.
