The once-bustling Shimulia launch terminal in Munshiganj is now almost deserted. Since the opening of the Padma Bridge, the area’s business and employment have been steadily declining. Most water vessels now sit idle, where as more than 300 speedboats and launches used to operate there daily ferrying people and goods across the river.

Forty train carriages, bought from South Korea for Bangladesh Railway, getting last minute touch-ups at the Railway Carriage and Wagon Workshop in Chattogram’s Pahartali yesterday. These carriages are supposed to replace the old ones of the Subarna Express ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. Meanwhile, the old carriages are being repaired so that they can be used again later.
