Mushfiqur brings up his 10th Test ton

Bangladesh's veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim brought up his 10th Test ton during the Tigers' lone Test against Ireland at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today. 

Mushfiqur was a bit fortunate in the way he brought up his hundred off 135 deliveries. He got an outside edge off a Mark Adair delivery that went through the gap between the keeper and a wide slip as Mushfiqur reached the three-figure mark in the second session of Day 2 of the Test. 

Mushfiqur, playing his 85th Test, now remains joint-second with Tamim Iqbal for most number of centuries by a Bangladeshi in the longest format. Mominul Haque, with 11 Test hundreds in 56 matches, is on top of that list.

Mushfiqur, who struck 12 fours and a maximum on way to his ton today, is already the highest scorer for Bangladesh in Tests. He had scored 5321 runs in 155 innings before this Test.   

Mushfiqur, who came down to bat at number four, starred in a 159-run fourth-wicket stand with skipper Shakib Al Hasan. The partnership ended when Shakib edged an Andy McBrine delivery back to the keeper. 

Bangladesh, however, remain in a strong position in the Test, with Mushfiqur and Liton Das already combining for a 50-plus fifth-wicket stand. Bangladesh scored 262 for four after 55 overs and stretched their lead to 48 runs. 

Liton has scored at a brisk pace since coming on to bat and raced to 26 off 28 deliveries.
