'Clear bonus, due RMG salaries for March before Eid'
State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian today urged the garment factory owners to clear workers' salaries for March and festival bonuses before the beginning of the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
As per the rules, the factory owners will also have to pay salary of seven workdays of April before the Eid holidays, the labour ministry said in a statement today.
The state minister made the call at the 14th meeting of the tripartite consultative committee (TCC) of the readymade garment sector, at Shromo Bhavan in Dhaka.
The TCC is a body consisting of government representatives, factory owners and worker leaders formed for the sake of the garment sector.
The TCC did not take any decision on payment of salary for 10 to 20 days of April before Eid holiday, according to the labour ministry statement.
But if any owner wants to clear salary of 10-20 days of April beforehand, they can do it, it added.
The state minister also instructed the factory owners to follow the government rules in case of allowing workers to enjoy holidays.
