The Dhaka district administration today opened a booth near the site of the Bangabazar Shopping Complex to help victims file general diaries about valuable documents lost in Tuesday's fire, which razed the complex to the ground.

"The shops' owners and staffers, who lost their trade licences, bank cheques and credit or debit cards, birth registration certificates and NID cards or any other essential documents in the fire, can file the GD with the help of Shahbagh police at the booth from now," Sayem Imran, an assistant commissioner and executive magistrate, told The Daily Star.

"The booth, which was set in front of the nearby Annexco Tower, will be kept open as long as needed," he said.

"We will maintain contact with the offices concerned so that the victims can get their documents without delay," added Sayem.
