Today marks the 76th birth anniversary of the noted actor Sharmili Ahmed. She was a popular television artiste who also appeared in many big screen projects. The actor left us for good on July 8, last year.  Reminiscing the memories of the actor, her closest colleague and friend Ekushey Padak winning veteran artiste Dilara Zaman shared stories with The Daily Star.

"We were very closely acquainted, in fact we lived nearby. Every day at least once, she would call me and keep up with me," shared the actor. "She was really very close to me, we even hang out very often. It really hurts me to realise that we will never see each other again."

Since the two would always show up everywhere together, people knew how close they were. "We were called two peas in a pod," she said. "My friend is gone, I feel so lonely."

Sharmili and Dilara have shared the screen many times, and they share lot of memories which will always remain with Dilara Zaman. "She would bring tasty dishes for me, and treat me as sister." Last they appeared in the tele-fiction "Sheshpotro", directed by Abul Hayat. "She was fun to work with, extremely supportive and jolly minded. She is hard to forget."

How did the two actors meet? In response, Dilara shared that both their husbands were writers, and through this connection they were introduced with each other. "I will never forget our first meet, she made me comfortable, as if I were her real sister."

This is the first birthday of Sharmili Ahmed without her presence. "This hurts me a lot, I just hope and pray wherever she is, may she rest in peace."
