Coastal areas of Chattogram, Barishal to see heavy rain, wind from tonight
Residents of coastal districts of Chattogram and Barishal divisions will start experiencing the impact of cyclone Mocha from tonight.
"The cyclone is likely to make landfall anytime between tomorrow noon and midnight, but the impact of cyclone will start from tonight," Bangladesh Meteorological Department meteorologist Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik told The Daily Star.
He said that residents of those areas would experience strong winds and heavy rain.
The coastal districts of Chattogram division, as well as their offshore islands and chars, are likely to be inundated by a wind-driven surge height of 8 to 12 feet above normal astronomical tide as a result of the cyclone, according to the meteorologist.
The wind speed of Cyclone Mocha is currently varying between 160 and 180 kilometres per hour and will gradually increase, he added.
