Mehedi gets in on the act to remove Stirling
Bangladesh off-spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz managed to get rid of Ireland opener Paul Stirling in the 32nd over to leave the hosts three down for 153 runs in the third and final ODI of the three-match series in Chelmsford on Sunday.
Stirling, who hit four boundaries and two maximums for his 73-ball 60, went after a wide one off a good length that was bowled slower through the air by Mehedi but the right-handed batter conceded a thick edge that found the hands of debutant Mrittunjoy Chowdhury at short-third.
The hosts still need 122 runs from 18 overs to level the series.
Stirling's dismissal brought wicket-keeper batter Lorcan Tucker to the crease, with in-form Harry Tector unbeaten on 20 off 24 balls.
