The ruling Awami League (AL) candidate Abul Khair Abdullah once again refused to comment on who his brother Abul Hasanat Abdullah and nephew Serniabad Sadiq Abdullah's would vote for in today's Barishal City Corporation polls.

"I do not want to make any comment," he said in reply to a journalist's query about whether his brother and nephew will vote for him or not.

Khair was talking with reporters after casting his vote at Government Barishal College polling centre around 10:30am.

Hasanat Abdullah and his son, also the incumbent mayor Sadiq are out of the city and were not seen in any voting activities till date. Shafiq's followers are also kept out of the polling activities by Khair and his supporters.

"Voters are voting spontaneously. If the polls go like this, I am cent percent optimistic about winning. If I win, I promise I will return the rights of the citizens," Khair said today.

Asked whether there were any irregularities, Khair claimed that voting was going on peacefully. "I have asked my supporters to not get involved with any kind of misdeed. If anyone is found involved with irregularities, I will definitely take action."

He added that he had the trust that law enforcers would address any problems that arose involving ruling party candidates at the polling centres.
