AR Rahman’s daughter becomes music composer for Tamil film 'Minmini'
Khatija Rahman, daughter of Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman, will be making her debut as a music composer for the upcoming Tamil film, "Minmini". The film's director, Halitha Shameem shared the news on Twitter along with a picture of Khatija from the composing session. She captioned the tweet writing that Khatija is "an exceptional talent".
So far, Khatija had primarily been a singer, but is now finally diving into the world of music composition. Halitha continued the tweet, writing, "So happy to be working with this exceptional talent, Khatija Rahman for Minmini. The euphonious singer is a brilliant music composer too. Some great music underway."
Reacting to Halitha's tweet, netizens expressed their excitement to see Khatija follow in her father's footsteps. One Twitter user wrote, "How exciting!!! I love Khatija's singing and now we get to hear her composing new music too!! Fantastic! All the best Khatija and team!!"

In a recent interview with Times of India, Khatija had revealed she was initially unsure about entering the field of music composition. "Last year, I was figuring out what I wanted to do. Also, I was singing and doing so many things at that point. I felt there was too much on my plate. But later, there was another project - also by a female director — that came to me. So, I called Halitha ma'am and told her things had changed, and asked if she still wanted me. I played her my independent track. After hearing that, she said, 'This is exactly my vibe. I like your voice. I like your thinking. So, I want to work with you. I feel you can add value to the film.' We decided to give it a try and take it forward," Khatija said.
"Minmini", which will likely release later this year, stars Esther Anil, Gaurav Kalai and Pravin Kishore.
