Tree plantation: DNCC to collect cow dung from cattle market ahead of Eid
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has taken an initiative to collect cow dung from the cattle markets ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha for using those in its tree plantation programme.
The DNCC also plans to use the cow dung as fertiliser throughout the year to support its ambitious programme.
Speaking to The Daily Star yesterday, SM Sharif-Ul Islam, the chief waste management officer of DNCC, shared details about the initiative.
He explained that the project aims to plant 2 lakh trees over the course of a year, which will require a substantial amount of fertiliser. To meet this demand, DNCC will gather cow dung from both the permanent and temporary cow markets located within its jurisdiction.
The collected cow dung will then be stored at Gabtoli, Sharif-Ul said.
