Standard Chartered’s Goal initiative celebrates 10 years in Bangladesh
Standard Chartered's award-winning girls' education programme, Goal, celebrated its 10-year anniversary of tackling inequality and promoting economic inclusion in Bangladesh on Saturday.
Goal Programme began in Bangladesh in 2013 in partnership with BRAC and WomenWin, with the aim to empower and equip adolescent girls from low-income families with the confidence, knowledge and skills they need to be integral economic leaders in their families, communities and societies.
The initiative combines sports with life-skills training to enable girls with the confidence, knowledge and skills they need to be integral economic leaders in their families.
Standard Chartered Bangladesh is currently working with Population Services And Training Center (PSTC) to power Goal. Brac was the first partner.
Goal equips girls with the confidence, knowledge and skills they need to be economic leaders in their families and communities.
Since its global launch in 2006, Goal has grown into an internationally-recognised global movement operating in more than 20 markets. Designed for girls aged 12-18 living in underserved communities, we provide life skills education through sport and activity-based learning.
Goal delivers modules on financial education, communication skills, health and hygiene, self-confidence, employability and cybersecurity to help girls and young women transform not just their own lives, but those of their families and friends.
Between 2006 and 2022, the initiative reached more than 827,000 girls and young women. By the end of 2023, we aim to reach a total of one million girls.
