Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh today said mosquito control workers will arrive to destroy Aedes mosquito larvae within 15 minutes of being informed.

He told this to the city dwellers as he urged them to help authorities by giving information about such breeding grounds.

"If you provide us with information, our mosquito control workers will reach there within 15 minutes and take necessary steps to destroy the mosquito larvae," said the mayor while visiting Hatirjheel.

"This time, dengue has come earlier. We got patients even when there was scorching heat. But it was not supposed to happen," the mayor said.

Taking these things into consideration, DSCC authorities are expanding their dengue control activities, he added.

"In 2021, we carried out two months' activities (to destroy mosquito breeding grounds). We have expanded it to four months this year. We are increasing the capacity. We are also increasing the activities," he said.

The DSCC mayor said, "Dengue disease cannot be eradicated but can be controlled. We have been able to control it. If you compare the data and statistics with developed countries, then you will see that we are in a good position compared to other countries."
