Tired of filing cases against them: Meher Afroz Shaon
Yesterday marked the 11th death anniversary of the renowned fiction writer and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed. To pay homage to her late husband, actress Meher Afroz Shaon visited Nuhash Polli, his final resting place, accompanied by their two sons.
During her visit to Nuhash Polli on Wednesday morning, Shaon expressed her frustration over various dramas and movies of Humayun Ahmed being streamed on popular OTT platforms and YouTube channels without any proper permission or contract. She emphasised that there was no prior agreement or discussion with the heirs regarding these digital releases, and she finds such practices completely unethical and immoral.
"Some people are writing books about Humayun Ahmed without even properly knowing him. Some are making movies based on the influence of his books but don't even mention his name. I have become tired of filing cases against them," expressed Shaon, highlighting the distressing situation.
Shaon also revealed that she had verbally complained to the authorities of the OTT platforms but received no satisfactory response. She believes that it is not just a matter of legalities but a matter of basic respect for the work and legacy of an iconic artiste like Humayun Ahmed.
