Iconic Bollywood friend groups we wish to be part of
Bollywood has produced several memorable films that revolve around a cast of characters rather than just the main character. Over the years, these films have served major #friendshipgoals, being our emotional support mechanisms. On the occasion of Friendship Day, we look back at four iconic groups we wish we were a part of.
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
When it comes to travelling with friends, the ZNMD trio has to be on the top of our list. Kabir, Arjun and Imraan are childhood buddies who grow up to diverge into different lives and reunite for one grand Europe trip. We all have wished for a dreamy trip like this, with our very own carefree Imraan, strategic Arjun, and Kabir, who knows his friends would sort things out for him. Despite all the troubles that came their way, this trio remained a source of comfort for each other – from helping to find a lost relative, standing up to their fears or engaging in a life-risking adventure.
Rang De Basanti
What makes this group special is its unity amidst diversity. DJ, Sukhi, Laxman, Aslam, Karan and Soniya— all have their own eccentricities, but this group goes beyond these differences by connecting them in a shared brotherhood. They are not the regular group of friends we end up idolising. Set in a political landscape, they are bound by the common cause of doing something for their lost friend. We might not admire them amidst all the fun and laughter, but this is precisely the group of friends we wish we had as grown-ups. These characters explain the true meaning of the term and earn a sweet spot in our minds.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
Naina, Kabir, Aditi and Avi – each of them added something meaningful to the group, simply by being their true selves. We all want a friend like Avi, who is the heart of any party and adds a hint of fun and adventure to any outing. For our wanderlust selves, we need someone like Kabir to accompany us on spontaneous trips while sharing his lessons from across the world. At the end of the day, we need a friend like Naina who can comfort us and make everything better with a long conversation. Finally, we deserve to have a friend like Aditi, who is selfless and would be there beside us, no matter what.
Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na
Growing up, we all wanted a college gang like "Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na", including Aditi, Jai, Jiggy, Rotlu, Bombs, and Shaleen. They all had distinct personalities and were not overshadowed by each other's presence. These friends always had each other's backs; nothing could ever come between them. They were support systems for each other, while at the same time, did not shy away from correcting each other. From being each other's wing person to going on road trips, a friend group like this is indeed a great blessing in life. This group is a beautiful reminder that no matter how difficult times get, having a supportive group always helps.
