I still act to feed my artistic soul: Dolly Zahur
Dolly Zahur is a prominent figure of the drama and film industry, who has amassed the love of thousands for her multiple portrayals of a matron. Despite her long years in the industry, the actress is still going strong.
She once portrayed the iconic character of Rabeya in late legendary writer-director Humayun Ahmed's "Shonkhonil Karagar" in 1992. When asked about what has still kept her interested in acting, she replied, "I still act to fuel my artistic soul. Acting provides me respite as an artiste, it provides me incentive."
"For an actor, their craft is their peace of mind. Although acting in this age is a bit hard, that's just the weather, she added wistfully, however her mood changed when she said, "I still act despite that, it's my responsibility as an artiste".
Dolly Zahur also expressed that she has no regrets in her life, thanking the almighty for the blessings that have been bestowed upon her.
On another note, due to her portrayal of maternal figures in countless dramas and films, many in the industry refer to the actress as Ma, how does she feel about that?
"I love it, it fills my heart that so many artistes call me Ma. What more can someone ask for?"
As a conclusive note the veteran actress added, "I've always tried to give my best, in terms of acting and stories. At this point, I just hope for well wishes, so that I can spend my days in good health".
