True beauty of Bangladesh lies in its villages: Salahuddin Lavlu
Noted actor-director Salahuddin Lavlu began his journey with Aranyak Natyadal. Soon after, he joined the television industry and gained praises from the audience for his spontaneity and brilliance. Taking one leap at a time, the artiste ventured into directing television drama serials and captivated the masses with his directorial debut, "Molla Barir Bou".
Currently, juggling both directing and acting roles, Lavlu's passion for the craft continues to shine. Recently, he is directing a new drama series titled "Bahana". The initial shooting phase was successfully completed in Pubail, Gazipur, with plans to commence the second phase next month. Written by Kazi Shahidul Islam, "Bahana" is set to be a family drama intertwined with rural narratives, spanning a potential 250 episodes.
Regarding "Bahana", Lavlu commented, "I have collaborated with fresh talents for this project. Securing established actors for such an extensive series is challenging. However, I have faith in the capabilities of these new talents and believe they will excel," Lavlu shared.
"I am always interested in working with newcomers. Many budding talents have gained popularity by acting in my dramas," he added.
Over the course of approximately 25 years, Lavlu has directed plays that resonate with the rural essence of Bangladesh. Renowned dramas like "Ronger Manush", "Bhober Haat", and "Harkipte" have earned him admiration from audiences.
When questioned about his preference for rural stories, Lavlu explained, "The true beauty of Bangladesh lies in its villages. The warmth and hospitality of village people remain intact. Many of our ancestors hailed from villages and there's a unique serenity associated with village life. This is why rural-themed dramas hold a special appeal for me."
Balancing acting and directing concurrently, he revealed, "Acting is in my blood. People of this country initially recognise me as an actor and then as a director."
"I enjoy directing just as much as I enjoy acting. Since I love both, it doesn't seem difficult to me," he concluded.
