'Hok Kolorob' lyricist, Rajib Ashraf, passes away
Popular Bangladeshi lyricist and film-maker Rajib Ashraf passed away. Rajib Ashraf's elder brother, Ashraful Aaam Babu, confirmed to The Daily Star that he died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital this morning.
Rajib Ashraf's artistic contributions have left an indelible mark on the Bangladeshi music and film industry. He was widely known for his collaborations with the popular singer Arnob, penning lyrics for several hit songs that resonated with music lovers across the country. Some of these tracks include "Hok Kolrob", "Naam Chilo Na", "Prokrito Jol", "Ghum", "Dhushor Megh", "Rod Boleche Hobe", "Prtoddhoni", "Ekta Meye", and "Mon Kharaper Ekta Bikel".
Rajib Ashraf has also written songs for almost all telefilms produced by mobile phone company Airtel. Some hit songs include "Jolkona Ure Jay", "Valobashi Tai Valobeshe Jai", and "Jajabor Pakhna".
The lyricist also made his mark in the advertising world, crafting jingles for brands, such as Banglalink, Mojo, Seven Up, and even Channel One's theme song, "Shomvabonar Duar", in collaboration with Habib.
Rajib Ashraf was also recognised for his work in commercials and documentary filmmaking. He created a documentary for the Bangladesh Games.
Not only writing, Rajeev Ashraf has also acted in dramas and telefilms. His notable appearances include roles in productions, such as Ashutosh Sujan's "Tiner Tolo", Animesh Aich's "Holud", Nurul Alam Atique's "Mojider Television" and Amitabh Reza's "Ekta Phone Kora Jabe Please".
