Who could tell there once was a river here? The Mathabhanga river in Chuadanga, which would be full to the brim some decades ago, dried up for a lack of water from the upstream since the construction of the Farakka barrage in the 1970s. A child dressed like Krishna is being carried by a man dressed as Vasudeva, Krishna’s father, during a Janmashtami parade. The celebratory procession started out from Dhakeshwari temple in the capital. The photo was taken when it reached Palashir Mor around 3:00pm yesterday.
