Syed Abdul Hadi honoured with Meril-Prothom Alo Lifetime Achievement

Renowned singer Syed Abdul Hadi was awarded the prestigious Meril-Prothom Alo Lifetime Award 2022. This honour, presented during the 24th edition of the Meril-Prothom Alo Awards, celebrated Hadi's remarkable contributions to Bangladesh's cultural heritage.

On Friday evening, the Bangabandhu International Convention Centre's Hall of Fame in the city's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, played host to a throng of stars and outstanding personalities, as the much-anticipated Meril-Prothom Awards 2022 ceremony began.  

The award was presented to Syed Abdul Hadi in recognition of his unwavering dedication to the country's cultural arena. The revered artiste Runa Laila had the privilege of bestowing the honour and crest upon Hadi, with Anjan Chowdhury, the managing director of Square Toiletries Limited and Matiur Rahman, Prothom Alo's editor. The audience, brimming with admiration, rose to their feet to honour this distinguished artiste.

Veteran singer Syed Abdul Hadi managed to capture the hearts of millions of Bengalis with his melodious songs through the messages they portray. Throughout his illustrious career, spanning almost sixty long years, the singer has won five Bangladesh National Film Awards for Best Male Playback Singer and received the Ekushey Padak in 2000.

He has lent his voice to numerous beloved songs, including "Surjodoye Tumi", "Je Matir Buke", "Chokher Nojor", "Emonoto Prem Hoy", "Sokhi Cholona", "Keu Konodin Amarey To" and "Jeo Na Sathi" among others. 

The biggest stars of the entertainment industry, like Chanchal Chowdhury, Sabila Nur, Bidya Sinha Mim, Puja Chery, Jayanta Chattopadhyay, Tariq Anam Khan, Nima Rahman, Runa Laila, Runa Khan, Pritom Hasan, Xefer and Mehazabien, were present at the event.
