Sayantika Banerjee abruptly leaves ‘Chayabaz’ film shoot
Tollywood actress Sayantika Banerjee, who was in Dhaka for her debut film project, abruptly returned to Kolkata amidst its ongoing shoot. It has been revealed that her sudden departure was due to a dispute with the film's dance director, Michael.
Sayantika arrived in Dhaka on August 30 to work on the movie "Chayabaz", directed by Taju Kamrul. The shooting was scheduled to continue until September 12, with the first portion focusing on music video shoots. While the filming of the initial song went smoothly, issues arose during the second song's shoot, leading to a conflict between Sayantika and dance director Michael.
Sayantika insisted on the replacement of the dance director, Michael, or she would not proceed with the project. However, the producer, Monirul Islam, decided to continue with Michael. In response, Sayantika chose to discontinue her participation in the film and returned to Kolkata.
When contacted, director Taju Kamrul acknowledged the incident but declined to comment, suggesting speaking with the producer and dance director for more details.
Dance director Michael recounted the day's events, stating that during the second song's shoot, Sayantika asked him not to touch her hand but to explain the dance steps verbally. He complied with her request without any arguments. Surprisingly, after wrapping up the day's work, Sayantika informed the director and producer that she would not work if he was present. She returned to the set the following day but refused to exit the car.
Producer Monirul Islam clarified that during the second song's shoot, Sayantika complained about Michael grabbing her hand. However, after an investigation, it was found that Michael had held her hand for work purposes. Monirul insisted that Sayantika must work with Michael, or else she should not continue with the project. The actress left the set the next morning, cutting the shoot short by five days.
Zayed Khan, the film's co-star, dismissed rumors of Sayantika's departure, asserting that a deliberate effort was being made to spread false information.
The situation remains uncertain, with the producer indicating that if Sayantika agrees to work with Michael, the shoot will resume. Otherwise, further decisions about the cast may be considered.
