Dancing on the pages

This week, then, we're thinking: music and books, music and literature. In print and online, we're dreaming in tunes, dancing with words, daring to merge the two

There's something about the musicality of language—something we've been discussing quite a lot here at DS Books and Star Literature. For those of us living in this city—a city synonymous with chaos, bursting at the seams with mess, noise, and harshness—thinking about language and its sometimes healing, and at other times wounding potentiality is often what prevents us from experiencing an untrammelled descent into despair, madness even. Words heal us, we realise. They also hurt us, profoundly. And in between the hurt and the embrace, words come to play—they dance on the pages and create music, in the background and foreground, in between pages and on the margins, on front covers and back flaps, in dedications and epigraphs.

This week, then, we're thinking: music and books, music and literature. In print and online, we're dreaming in tunes, dancing with words, daring to merge the two.

Do check out our eclectic collection of essays, creative nonfiction, poetry and song lyrics.

And while you're at it, tell us, what is your favourite quote on music?
