Sun breaks through in Dharamshala after overnight rain
After overnight rain, the sun broke through the clouds in Dharamshala and with it removed concerns over the timely start of the Bangladesh-England World Cup match which is scheduled to begin at 11am (Bangladesh Standard Time) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium today.
Earlier, sudden heavy downpour and thunderstorms overnight raised some concern over the start of the match considering the poor outfield of the stadium.
England captain Jos Buttler already expressed his concern with the outfield in Dharamshala, which he thinks is not ideal for World Cup matches.
Former England batter and Afghanistan head coach Jonathan Trott questioned the condition of the outfield after spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman narrowly escaped injury after jamming his knee into the sandy surface.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has given the outfield an "average" rating, allowing it to host World Cup matches, but concerns about players' safety while fielding lingers.
"It's poor in my own opinion," Buttler told reporters on Monday ahead of the match against Bangladesh.
If the match gets washed out due to rain, each team will get a point as there is no reserve day for Group Stage matches.
Bangladesh made a solid start to their campaign after they defeated Afghanistan comfortably while defending champions lost their opening match to New Zealand.
