'The Crown' Season 6 teaser: Diana's death, Charles and Camilla’s wedding in final season

Netflix has unveiled its premiere plans for the sixth and final season of "The Crown". Rather than dropping all episodes at once, the streaming giant will divide the last season into two parts to prolong the drama and anticipation.

The first, comprising four episodes, is set to premiere on November 16, while part two, featuring six episodes, will follow four weeks later on December 14. This strategy mirrors Netflix's recent handling of other fan-favorite series like "Stranger Things", "You" and "The Witcher".

To give fans a taste of what's to come, Netflix has released a brief teaser for the season. The teaser offers a nostalgic journey through the life of Queen Elizabeth II, portrayed by Claire Foy and Olivia Colman in earlier seasons, before introducing Imelda Staunton as the current iteration of the British monarch. A compelling voiceover by Colman emphasises that being queen "is not a choice; it is a duty," while Staunton's voice raises the question, "But what about the life I put aside?"

"The Crown" will wrap up its remarkable journey by covering the years 1997-2005. The first part will delve into the intricate relationship between Princess Diana, played by Elizabeth Debicki, and Dodi Fayed, portrayed by Khalid Abdalla, culminating in the tragic car crash in Paris in 1997. The second part will highlight the wedding of Prince Charles, portrayed by Dominic West, and Camilla Parker Bowles, played by Olivia Williams. It will also focus on the lives of Charles' sons, William (Ed McVey) and Harry (Luther Ford).

Executive producer Suzanne Mackie expressed her pride in the final season, stating, "I am really, really proud of this final season. I think it's some of our best work." She commended Imelda Staunton's extraordinary portrayal of the queen and teased that the series' conclusion is both beautiful and profound, serving as a culmination of the show's long and captivating journey.

"The Crown" has already achieved significant acclaim, amassing 21 Emmy Awards over its previous five seasons, including the coveted 'Best Drama Series' award for season four. As fans eagerly await the final season's release, Netflix's strategic split is sure to keep the excitement palpable throughout its run.
