How are the winners of Bangladesh Business Awards selected?
International logistics service provider DHL and Bangladesh's most widely circulated English newspaper The Daily Star have been organising the DHL-The Daily Star Bangladesh Business Awards since 2000.
The awards are given to create an environment that encourages and sustains the entrepreneurial spirit and enhances standards of corporate management in Bangladesh.
This year, the Bangladesh Business Awards were given in four categories: Business Person of the Year, Best Financial Institution of the Year, Outstanding Women in Business and Life Time Achievement Award.
The winners of each category were chosen after taking into consideration their skills, achievements, performance, qualities and contribution to the economy as well as the country.
The Best Financial Institution of the Year category was introduced in 2007, presented to the most deserving financial institution like banks, insurance and leasing companies for its distinguished performance.
The Business Person of the Year award is presented to the most deserving individual for outstanding corporate success. The candidate must possess integrity, business and financial acumen, management skills and leadership qualities.
The Outstanding Woman in Business award is handed over to the most deserving woman in business or profession who has made an outstanding contribution to her company or profession and can be considered a role model for other women in business.
Through the Life Time Achievement Award, the DHL and The Daily Star honoured the pioneers of the Bangladesh's business sector.
The Life Time Achievement Award receivers are the ones who have played significant roles in transforming Bangladesh economy and dedicated their life for the development of the country's business environment.
