Three persons, one financial institution honoured
Three persons and a financial institution were honoured today with the 21st DHL-The Daily Star Bangladesh Business Awards for their contribution in Bangladesh's business sector.
International logistics service provider DHL and Bangladesh's most widely circulated English newspaper The Daily Star have been organising the event since 2000 to create an environment that encourages and sustains the entrepreneurial spirit and enhances standards of corporate management in Bangladesh.
This year, the Bangladesh Business Awards were given in four categories: Business Person of the Year, Best Financial Institution of the Year, Outstanding Woman in Business and Life Time Achievement Award.
AKM Mosharraf Hussain, managing director of Standard Group, has been honoured with the 'Business Person of the Year' award for his immense contribution in the Bangladesh economy.
For being the best among the bests, Mosammat Shirajum Munira, founder of Sutar Kabbo, has been awarded with the 'Outstanding Woman in Business' award.
Brac Bank outshined other financial institutions in Bangladesh with its tremendous performance last year and won the 'Best Financial Institution of the Year' award.
DHL and The Daily Star proudly honoured champion businessman Syed Manzur Elahi with the 'Life Time Achievement Award'.
Elahi, chairman of Apex Group and former president of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Bangladesh Employers Federation, played an instrumental role in Bangladesh's growth trajectory.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi attended the event as the chief guests and handed over the awards to the awardees.
The theme of this year's Bangladesh Business Awards is 'Vision to Action: The trillion-dollar expedition of Bangladesh'.
