BNP calls fresh 48-hour blockade from Sunday
The BNP today announced a fresh 48-hour countrywide blockade from Sunday.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the party's senior joint secretary, made the announcement at a press briefing this afternoon.
The fresh announcement came as the sixth spell of blockade will end today.
Earlier on October 29, the party called for the first phase of countrywide blockade on October 31, November 1 and 2 protesting the killing of the party activists and the arrests of party leaders and activists, including its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
BNP on October 28 declared a nationwide hartal protesting "police action" on the party leaders and activists in Dhaka's Kakrail area.
The party was holding a grand rally at its headquarters in Nayapaltan on that day, demanding that polls be held under a non-party caretaker government.
