Robbers loot jewellery shop in Munshiganj

Robbers looted gold and silver ornaments and cash from a jewellery shop at Baluchar Bazaar in Sirajdikhan upazila of the district early yesterday.

Sub-Inspector Md Waheduzzaman of Sirajdikhan Police Station said a gang of 20/25 armed robbers arrived at the bazaar at around 2:00am and tied 15/16 people, including two night guards, at gunpoint.

They then entered the shop of one Babul Rajbangshi and looted gold and silver ornaments and Tk 10 thousand from a safe by breaking its lock, the SI said.

As a shop owner informed the local people of the matter through a loudspeaker of a mosque, the gang members fled the scene. 

Police could not arrest any of the gang as of 5:00pm yesterday.
