Robi subsidiary launches commercial data centre
Axentec PLC, a subsidiary of Robi Axiata Ltd., has recently launched Cypher, a Tier-IV commercial data centre at Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park in Jashore. The data centre pledges an uptime guarantee of 99.995%.
Targeting local clients, Cypher promises top notch data security in the domestic arena, according to Axentec. Cypher has 2N redundancy and fault tolerance power backup systems with advanced cooling mechanisms. According to Axentec, Jashore was chosen as the location as that area has a non-seismic zone.
The data centre was inaugurated by Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology. The state minister expressed his views on data protection and how various companies are profiting by stealing personal data. He also shared that the "Personal Data Protection Act" is in the pipeline to ensure data safety of citizens of Bangladesh.
"Data is the next oil. Those who will properly use data will definitely prosper. Bangladesh also has a chance as we are the eighth most populated country in the world," Palak said.
Md Adil Hossain Noble, MD and CEO of Axentec PLC said, "Data privacy is a very important factor. We must ensure that our data does not go into foreign hands."
Mentioning that banks and financial institutions cannot store data outside of the country, Noble added, "Storing data for these entities on their own is expensive. That is why Cypher can play a vital role here with our telco grade server which ensures 24/7 seamless operation".
Rajeev Sethi, MD and CEO of Robi said, "Backed by Robi's industry leadership, Axentec PLC is perfectly poised to pioneering technological solutions that propel the nation towards a future of unmatched digital possibilities".
