The knives are out, but the scissors are sheathed as Daniel Craig debuts a long hairdo in a first look from Rian Johnson's next mystery movie.

Rian Johnson, the director of the franchise, dropped a photo on social media commemorating the first day of shooting for "Wake Up Dead Man", the third film in his "Knives Out" series, due in 2025. The first look image shows Daniel Craig dressed up as the quirky Southern detective Benoit Blanc, wearing a three-piece suit and holding a hat.

Craig, the connective tissue between the three "Knives Out" movies, is joined in "Wake Up Dead Man" by an all-star cast including Josh O'Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, Daryl McCormack, and Josh Brolin, among others, reported Variety magazine.

Earlier in May, Johnson released a 45-second teaser announcing its title and release year. "In the beginning, the knives came out. Then, behold, the glass was shattered. But my most dangerous case yet is about to be revealed," narrates Craig in the video, referencing the first two titles of the murder mystery franchise, 2019's "Knives Out" and 2022's "Glass Onion".

Johnson wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), "I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There's a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies. We're about to go into production on the third one, and I'm very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it's going."

"Wake Up Dead Man" will be distributed by Netflix as part of Johnson's two-sequel deal with the streamer, worth USD 450 million. Despite the first film, distributed by Lionsgate, grossing USD 312 million at the global box office, Netflix put out "Glass Onion" with only a limited theatrical release, collecting a mere USD 13 million before launching it on streaming.

While "Wake Up Dead Man" will arrive on Netflix, it's unclear whether the streamer will give it a more robust theatrical release.
