Gono Bhaban doors open to agitating students: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday called upon the agitating students to sit with her at Gono Bhaban to end violence centring the quota reform protest.
"Doors to the Gono Bhaban are open. I want to sit with the student protesters and listen to them. I want no conflict."
The prime minister made the remarks at a meeting with the central leaders of the Peshajibi Somonnoy Parishad (Professionals' Coordination Council) at the Gono Bhaban in the morning.
She also asked the authorities concerned to release the general students who have been detained over the recent violence.
The PM assured that trials would be held for each person killed during the quota reform protests.
"I repeat I still want to hold talks if the agitators want. They can come at any time (to Gono Bhaban). They can also bring their guardians."
The premier also announced the cancellation of the proposed, universal pension scheme "Prottoy" for universities, autonomous and state-owned organisations.
