‘Rishka Aid Concert’ draws massive crowd for flood relief
The new Bangladesh achieved through the student-led and bloodied revolution in July-August is witnessing the most devastating flood crisis in recent collective memory. However, people from all walks of life promptly responded, collaborating for aid and rescue missions.
Instantaneously orchestrated by Rishka Connects, a student-led nonprofit event management organisation, the "Rishka Aid Concert" held yesterday at the amphitheater of Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed Park in the capital's Gulshan area is another heartfelt example of our collective zeal to band together and support those who are suffering.
Despite the short notice, the unfeigned response from the crowd and participating bands towards this charity concert led to a jam-packed venue even on a weekday (Tuesday). Everyone united there together through the universal humane appeal of music, in a cause to help their fellow Bangladeshis grappling with the flood primarily in certain areas of the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Feni, Noakhali, and Sylhet divisions.
Rashik Rabbani Sneho of Rishka Connect briefly spoke about the concert and expressed, "We are a bit overwhelmed by the response, we just tried to do our part to aid flood victims but were not at all expecting such a crowd. We are also immensely grateful to the participating bands who responded so quickly to the cause and performed without any remuneration. All the funds collected will be donated to buy supplies for the flood-affected people, animals, and animal rescue too!"
Although the lineup included heavyweights like AvoidRafa and Arbovirus, along with Owned, Aftermath, Dads In The Park, Conclusion, AK Rahul ft. Black Zang, Fused, and Angel Noor and The Band, the show was cut short due to sudden security concerns despite having permission from the authorities. As a result, fan favourites AvoidRafa, Aftermath, and Conclusion missed their slots.
Notably, anyone can still contribute to the cause by donating through this bKash number: 01701775525 (personal) or by contacting Rishka Connects directly via their social media.
