Anisul, Salman placed on fresh 5-day remand
A Dhaka court today placed Anisul Huq, former law minister, and Salman F Rahman, private industry affairs adviser to former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, on five-day fresh remands in a murder case.
The case was filed over the death of Suman Sikdar, 31, in Dhaka's Badda during quota protests on July 19.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Nurul Huda Chowdhury passed today's order in the case around 7:00am after police produced the duo before the court with a 10-day fresh remand prayer, a sub-inspector working in the court told The Daily Star.
On August 20, Masuma, mother of the victim, filed the murder case with Badda Police Station against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 179 others.
A day after Salman and Anisul were arrested in Dhaka's Sadarghat on August 13, they were placed on 10-day remands in a case filed with New Market Police Station over the death of shop employee Shahjahan Ali, 24, in the capital's New Markest area on July 16.
On August 24, Salman and Anisul were placed on 10-day fresh remand in two other cases filed over deaths of an honours fourth-year student, Sabuj Ali, 26, in the New Market area and an 11th-grader, Khalid Hasan Saifullah, in Lalbagh area of Dhaka during quota reform protests on July 16 and 18 respectively.
When they were first produced before court on August 14, the duo were pelted with eggs by lawyers and others present on the premises.
