Lady Gaga to appear in ‘Wednesday’ Season 2
It appears the makers of "Wednesday" are leaving no stone unturned, as they've arranged a surprise cameo featuring the "Joker: Folie à Deux" actress Lady Gaga.
Lady Gaga's appearance came as a delightful surprise for her fans. Two years ago, a viral TikTok trend around Netflix's "Wednesday" revived Lady Gaga's "Bloody Mary" song.
The specifics of Gaga's role are being kept secret, but sources indicate it will be a cameo appearance in the second season of the popular Netflix show, which is currently being filmed in Ireland, reports Variety.
The production team initially planned to cast Gaga in a larger role for Season 2, but that plan ultimately fell through.
This will be Gaga's latest acting role, though she is primarily recognised for her trailblazing music career. Most recently, she starred alongside Joaquin Phoenix in "Joker: Folie à Deux." She was notably nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role alongside Bradley Cooper in "A Star Is Born."
Gaga has also received three nominations for Best Original Song, including one for "A Star Is Born," and won the award for her song "Hold My Hand" from "Top Gun: Maverick." She has starred in films like "House of Gucci" and appeared in multiple seasons of "American Horror Story."
Earlier, when a scene of Jenna Ortega — who plays Wednesday Addams — dancing to The Cramps' 1981 single "Goo Goo Muck" went viral, fans began re-editing the sequence to Lady Gaga's track "Bloody Mary" from "Born This Way."
This sparked a wider TikTok trend of users recreating the "Beetlejuice" star's choreography, a dance that Gaga herself tried out.
The "Bloody Mary" craze also pushed the song onto the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time, 11 years after its original release. It debuted at No. 41 in April 2023.
The first season of "Wednesday" focuses on Wednesday Addams leaving her mysterious family for a boarding school. Catherine Zeta-Jones starred as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester. Emma Myers played Enid, Wednesday's best friend, while Gwendoline Christie took on the role of Larissa Weems, the principal of Nevermore Academy, and Christina Ricci — who portrayed Wednesday in the 1991 "The Addams Family film" — appeared as Marilyn Thornhill.
