Jamuna Future Park withdraws closure announcement
Jamuna Future Park (JFP) withdrew its decision to keep the shopping mall closed for an indefinite period just hours after making the announcement today and requested traders to resume operations.
The authorities of the shopping centre made the call after a meeting with the shop operators.
Soumik Das, chief executive officer of Rang Bangladesh, which operates 20 outlets nationwide, said they were informed that the issues had been resolved and the mall would remain open.
Earlier today, JFP's authority announced an indefinite closure after the shop owners and sales staff protested alleged thefts at several stores on Thursday night.
The protests continued for the second day when traders blocked Pragati Sarani today, said Sub-Inspector Abdul Quader of Vatara Police Station.
Attempts to contact Mohammed Alamgir Alam, director of marketing, sales, and operations of Jamuna Group, for comments were unsuccessful.
Built on a 33-acre site, Jamuna Future Park is a popular destination in the capital for shopping, entertainment, and dining.
