Microsoft unveils a new in-game browser
Microsoft has recently introduced Microsoft Edge Game Assist, a new in-game browser overlay now available for beta testing in Windows 11.
Designed to enhance gaming experiences, this tool integrates directly into the Microsoft Game Bar and uses the Edge browser to deliver instant access to gaming tips, guides, and resources tailored to the game one is playing.
The Game Assist feature taps into the Edge profile you're logged into, enabling access to personal data such as cookies, autofill, and bookmarks without requiring repeated logins. Like Game Bar widgets, the browser overlay can be pinned on-screen which can be accessible during gameplay.
Microsoft Edge Game Assist supports a handful of popular titles, including Valorant, Minecraft, League of Legends, Baldur's Gate 3, Diablo IV, Overwatch 2, Roblox and Hellblade II: Senua's Saga, automatically surfacing relevant resources for these games. For other games, players can still manually search for content.
The current beta version supports only mouse and keyboard input, though future updates will introduce compatibility for handheld devices and gamepads. Compact Mode is also in development, according to Microsoft.
Game Assist preview is available to users with Microsoft Edge Beta 132.
