Niloy advocates for stray dog welfare through voluntary efforts
Niloy Alamgir has established a name for himself as a prominent actor in today's entertainment industry. Beyond his work on screen, he is also actively engaged in social causes, often sharing his interest in wildlife through his social media platforms.
The actor frequently uses social media to voice his opinions on various matters. On Monday (November 16), Niloy shared a post highlighting his efforts to provide food for the stray dogs on Saint Martin's Island.
A voluntary group operating in Dhaka, known as the Dhaka Animal Protection Council, has taken action to address the dire situation of dogs on Saint Martin's Island, who are suffering from hunger and facing life-threatening conditions.
On Sunday (November 24), a team of 11 representatives from the organisation made their way to Saint Martin's Island through the Shah Porir Dwip jetty in Teknaf. They brought along a substantial supply of provisions, including 5,000 eggs, 3,000 kgs of dog food, chicken, rice, lentils, and essential medical items to support 200 dogs in need.
Niloy shared a video of the initiative on social media, expressing his gratitude in the caption, stating, "Alhamdulillah. May Allah ensure a sustainable solution for their well-being."
Abdul Kaiyum, who led the 11-member team from the Dhaka Animal Protection Council, shared that upon reaching the island in the afternoon, they immediately started feeding the malnourished dogs. Their efforts marked the beginning of a larger plan to provide consistent food support to all the dogs on the island.
It is worth noting that an attempt to relocate the dogs from Saint Martin's Island was made in 2022. However, the initiative was discontinued following objections raised by environmental groups.
