Bangladeshi gamer SI Anik to participate in Capcom Cup 11 finals
SI Anik, a Bangladeshi esports player, is scheduled to participate in the finals of the Capcom Pro Tour 2024, also known as Capcom Cup 11, the official tournament held by Capcom for the popular fighting game 'Street Fighter 6'. The finals are scheduled to be held from March 5 to March 9, 2025, at Ryōgoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.
Running from June through December 2024, 'World Warrior' is a regional Street Fighter 6 tournament where 38 players from 24 regions will qualify for Capcom Cup 11. The regular season of 'World Warrior' features five tournaments per region, with players winning regional points based on performance.
SI Anik scored highest in the South Asia regional rounds, achieving 150 points across five regular season tournaments to qualify for the Capcom Cup 11 finals. He competed against 40-50 players in the South Asian round of the World Warrior tournament, including players from India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, and other players from Bangladesh. The prize pool of the final event is US$ 1 million (around BDT 11 crore).
Last year, SI Anik was the champion of the Capcom Pro Tour 2023 World Warrior Asia South Regional Finals, qualifying for the main stage of Capcom Cup X as the sole Bangladeshi representative.
"This feels like a big achievement," says Anik. "I am representing my country on the international stage." Regarding plans for up ahead, he shares, "I would like to play against pro players from all regions. I also wish I could attend all major international tournaments, but that depends on getting sponsors."
