Prosecution will file a petition at the International Criminal Tribunal today, seeking a ban on the dissemination of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's "hate speech" in the media and on social platforms.

Confirming the matter, a prosecutor said a three-member bench of the tribunal led by its Chairman Justice Golam Mortuza Mozumder, will hear the petition later in the day.

The prosecution claims that the petition aims to stop the hate speech being delivered by Sheikh Hasina.

On August 5, following a mass uprising by student-masses, Sheikh Hasina fled the country and took refuge in India. From there, she has made various statements regarding the interim government. She has urged her followers to spread these statements through phone conversations, which have gone viral on social media.

On November 18, the ICT ordered that the investigation into the charges of genocide during July-August to be completed within a month, meaning the investigation report must be submitted by December 17.
