Child mauled to death by dogs in Kishoreganj
A child died after being mauled by a pack of stray dogs in Kishoreganj's Nikli upazila this afternoon.
The deceased is Joy Mia, 12, son of late Jewel Mia of Kursha Naya Hati village of the upazila.
This incident took place in the village around 1:30pm.
According to police and locals, Joy used to work in a duck farm in Kursha Haor. While going to work in the afternoon, he suddenly fell prey to a gang of dogs. The pack mauled him badly, injuring him in several places, including his face and stomach.
When locals heard the commotion, they rushed to the spot and rescued the child and took him to the Nikli Upazila Health Complex. The duty doctor declared him dead.
Kazi Arif Uddin, officer in charge of Nikli Police Station confirmed that the child was killed after stray dogs attacked and mauled him.
On information, police went to the upazila health complex and brought the body to the police station.
The process of sending the body to Shahid Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College, Kishoreganj morgue for autopsy was underway.
An unnatural death case has been filed in this connection, he said.
