4 2 0 0 1 6: Liton dials in wrong numbers
Bangladesh batter Liton Das, renowned for blowing hot and cold, has dished out consistency in one aspect that he might not be proud of.
Liton registered 4, 2, 0, 0, 1*, and 6 in his last six ODI innings, resembling a phone number which one keeps on calling but to no avail or response from the other side.
In his latest misfire, Liton huffed and puffed for a 19-ball four and was put out of his misery in a bizarre manner as he toe-ended a pull shot, attempted on the leg-side, to backward point in the second ODI of the ongoing three-match series against the West Indies in St Kitts on Tuesday.
It was the 35th time Liton got dismissed for a single-digit score, almost 42 percent of the total number of times he got dismissed in the format.
Poor string of scores is nothing new for the 30-year-old as he has gone on a run of registering single-digit scores for three or more matches on the trot on four different phases in his 50-over career but this is the longest he has gone without reaching double digits.
However, his latest run of underwhelming one-digit cameos was not all his making as he remained unbeaten for one off two deliveries when Bangladesh had cruised to a nine-wicket win against New Zealand in Napier in 2023.
In the two-match Test series before the ODIs in the ongoing Caribbean tour, Liton registered scores of 40, 22, 1, and 25 in his four innings respectively before starting the ODI series with a seven-ball two.
