Taylor Swift swept the 2024 Billboard Music Awards on Thursday night, making history with an astounding 49 career BBMA wins after bagging 10 more trophies at the event. Hosted by comedian Michelle Buteau, the 31st Billboard Music Awards celebrated the most successful names in music, as determined by performance metrics like streams, sales, and airplay. The ceremony aired live on Fox, Amazon Fire TV, and on-demand via Paramount+, with replay streaming available on Hulu.

Swift, who has shaped much of the year's music landscape, achieved a landmark in her career with wins that included Top Streaming Songs Artist and Top Billboard Global 200 Artist. Morgan Wallen followed closely with four awards, and genre-defining acts like Bad Bunny, Drake, Elevation Worship, and Shaboozey picked up three each.
One of the night's biggest moments was when Chappell Roan was crowned Top New Artist, reflecting the year's standout breakout talent. Another notable win came in the country genre, where fans voted Beyoncé as Top Female Country Artist, marking her successful debut in the genre with her album "Cowboy Carter."
Performances from Coldplay, Fuerza Regida, SEVENTEEN, and Tyla added extra shine to the night, creating memorable moments for viewers. Megan Moroney, Stray Kids, and Jelly Roll also graced the stage, underscoring the diversity and global reach of the music industry today.
Swift's 49th Billboard win underscores her unrivaled influence on the modern music industry. But she wasn't the only history-maker of the night. K-pop, Afrobeats, and Latin music artists, including Stray Kids, Jung Kook, and Tyla, claimed notable victories in their respective categories, showing the increasingly globalized nature of the Billboard charts.
