Jatiya Nagorik Committee holds candlelight vigil for martyrs of 71 and 24
The Jatiya Nagorik Committee gathered at the Swadhinata Stambha (Independence Monument) in Suhrawardy Udyan in the early hours of Victory Day to pay homage to the greatest sons and daughters of the nation by holding a candlelight vigil.
Along with honouring the martyrs of the Liberation War, the committee also remembered those who lost their lives during the student-led mass uprising in 2024.
They also offered prayers for the martyred souls.
Speaking at the event, representatives of the committee said they gathered at the Independence Monument to remember the sacrifices of the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War as well as the brave souls who sacrificed their lives during the July uprising.
Akhter Hossain, member secretary of the Nagorik Committee, said they want the trial of those who were involved in the mass killing in 1971 as well as the mass killing in 2024.
Accusing Sheikh Hasina of the mass killing in 2024, he urged India to hand her over to Bangladesh to face trial.
