The 13th Sanjeeb Festival, celebrating the birth anniversary of legendary lyricist and musician Sanjeeb Choudhury, will take place on December 25 at 3pm at Sanjeeb Chattar on the TSC premises of Dhaka University.

Renowned not only for his contributions to music but also for his work in journalism, Sanjeeb Choudhury captured the essence of urban life through themes of love, heartbreak, deprivation, regret, and protest. 

Organised by young music enthusiasts, this annual festival pays tribute to an artiste whose timeless works continue to inspire new generations. This year's event will feature performances by artistes including Joy Shahriar, Sandhi, Sahas Mostafiz, Tuhin Kanti Das, Lisan & The Blindmen, Nahid Hasan, Farah Diba Tasnim, Rajesh Majumdar, and Ontu Das.

The festival is being organised by Ajob Karkhana, in collaboration with the Sanjeeb Festival Celebration Committee, Dhaka University Cultural Society, and Dhaka University Band Society.

Over the years, the festival has become a unique gathering for music lovers from across the country, introducing Sanjeeb Choudhury's creations to newer audiences. A beloved artiste, writer, and journalist, Sanjeeb co-founded the iconic band Dalchhut with Bappa Mazumder.

Born on December 25, 1962, in Makalkandi village, Baniachang Upazila, Habiganj, Sanjeeb Choudhury studied Mass Communication and Journalism at Dhaka University. He was a multifaceted individual, excelling as a writer, musician, and journalist, balancing his career in leading national media outlets with a passion for music and literature. 

Some of his most popular songs, including "Ami Tomakei Bole Debo," "Tomar Bhaj Kholo Anand Dekhao," "Amake Andho Kore Diechhilo Chand," "Swapnabaji," "Gari Chole Na," "Ei Kannavheja Akash Amar Bhalo Lage Na," and "Bioscope," remain as relevant and beloved today as ever.
